(Hampton County, SC)-- Attorneys for Alex Murdaugh are asking for a delay in a lawsuit he's facing.
Murdaugh is being sued by the family of Mallory Beach- the teen killed in a 2019 boating crash.
Her family alleges Murdaugh's 22-year-old son Paul was under the influence when the crash happened, and that Alex Murdaugh is negligent.
Attorneys are asking a Hampton County judge to temporarily block discovery of evidence in the lawsuit until after Murdaugh stands trial for the deaths of Paul and his wife Maggie.
The motion says that trial is planned for January.
