(Sumter, SC) -- Five people are dead after a military veteran went on a brutal killing spree in South Carolina.
Police say Charles Slacks Jr. used a key to enter his ex-wife's home on Tuesday night before fatally shooting her co-worker in the backyard.
While the woman was trying to call 911, Slacks ran upstairs and killed three children who were sleeping.
He then turned the gun on himself. Authorities have identified the victims and say Slacks was the father of two of the children, and a former stepfather to the third before he was divorced.
The incident is still under investigation.
