(Shaw AFB, SC) -- A decorated military official who died in South Carolina is being remembered as a legendary soldier dedicated to his country.
That's how Major General Walter Piatt describes Major General Jeffrey Bannister, who died this weekend in Lake Murray while assigned to Shaw Air Force Base.
In his 34-year military career, Bannister served around the country as well as in Korea, Haiti, Europe, Afghanistan and Iraq.
There's no word on a cause of death.
