(Columbia, SC) -- A Democrat is coming to the defense of Republican Governor Henry McMaster.
Fairfield State Senator Mike Fanning yesterday said McMaster is the single most ready partner when it comes to bringing jobs to the county.
McMaster's Democratic opponent in November's election is State Rep. James Smith, and he criticized McMaster yesterday for not doing enough to stop the closure of Element Electronics.
Fanning, though, criticized Smith for trying to politicize the issue, and he told The State we need unity instead of childish finger-pointing.
