State prison officials deny claims made by three inmates in a new lawsuit. The inmates have Hepatitis C and, last week, they sued the SCDC for not providing them with adequate care. The lawsuit claims hundreds of inmates have Hep C, and an unknown number may have chronic Hep C.
The SCDC says it's working with DHEC [[ DEE-heck ]] to treat Hep C positive inmates with a drug regimen that has a 95-percent cure rate.
