(Beaufort County, SC) -- A Hilton Head community is mourning the shocking death of a resident attacked by an alligator yesterday.
The Department of Natural Resources said the woman was trying to save her dog when the nine-foot alligator clamped down on a leash.
She was pulled into a lagoon in Sea Pines and never made it out. The alligator was caught and euthanized.
