(Columbia,SC) -- A big change is coming to the Columbia Housing Authority.
Executive Director Gilbert Walker announced yesterday he will retire at the end of June after almost 20 years in charge.
Walker has been with the CHA for over 50 years, and in a letter announcing his retirement, he writes he regrets that current events will overshadow the CHA's outstanding achievements.
His announcement comes after two people died last month of carbon monoxide poisoning at Allen Benedict Court, which is now closed.
