(Charleston, SC) -- South Carolina is home to what is believed to be the largest Medicare fraud scheme in FBI history.
Federal prosecutor Sherri Lydon said, yesterday, in Charleston, that more than two dozen people are facing charges in the more than one-billion dollar fraud scheme.
Lydon said the defendants first pushed unneeded orthopedic braces through foreign call centers to hundreds of thousands of U.S. seniors. That scheme grew to include other types of medical equipment and medications.
