(Columbia, SC) -- A man called South Carolina's Weatherman is signing off.
That's how News 19 describes Chief Meteorologist Jim Gandy, who announced yesterday he's retiring after an almost 45-year career.
He started in the Midlands in 1984 at WIS and 15 years later he moved to News 19.
His final day will be May 31st, and he says it has been an honor and a privilege to broadcast important weather information to the area for the last third of a century.
