(Lexington, SC) -- Riverbanks Zoo and Gardens is facing what they call a deep funding cut.
Lexington County is considering cutting funding for the zoo by 60-percent to pay for road projects, and zoo officials went before the county council yesterday to plead their case.
The zoo's CEO told the council the zoo might have to stop some of their free programs and cut some jobs.
The county says the budget is a fluid process, and no final decision has been made.
