(Charleston, SC) -- The state's top Catholic official is accused of child sex abuse.
A lawsuit was filed yesterday in New York against Bishop Robert Guglielmone, who leads the South Carolina Catholic Church and the Charleston diocese.
The charge dates back to 1978 when the plaintiff was eight-years-old and the bishop was a priest in New York.
Guglielmone denies the accusations, and the diocese is standing by him.
