South Carolina Lawmakers Considering More Laws To Fight Opioid Epidemic

(Columbia, SC) -- State lawmakers are currently considering three separate bills all related to the battle against opioid abuse and addiction. 

Among those being considered by a House subcommittee is one that would increase access to the life-saving opioid antidote drug naloxone. 

In 2018 alone, more than 800 people died of an opioid overdose in South Carolina. 

Detractors say that more access to naloxone is enabling addicts.
