(Columbia, SC) -- Two people are dead after a chase that ended in a crash on Monday afternoon.
The Richland County Sheriff's Office was pursuing a suspect that had expired tags.
Deputies say people inside the suspect vehicle threw what they believe was drugs from the window and intentionally hit a deputy in a marked patrol vehicle during the pursuit.
The suspect vehicle hit a cement truck head-on on Screaming Eagle Road near Percival Road, killing the driver and passenger and injuring the driver of the truck.
South Carolina Highway Patrol continues to investigate.
