A few South Carolina police departments are rescheduling their National Night Out events.
Typically the nationwide effort encourages people to lock their doors, turn on their outside lights, and gather with neighbors and police in an effort to reduce crime and drug use. Irmo Police is rescheduling from tonight to August 10th due to anticipated severe weather. The Orangeburg Department of Public Safety is also postponing, but have not yet set a new date.
