(Hampton County, SC) -- Prominent South Carolina attorney Alex Murdaugh is accused of plotting his own suicide in an insurance fraud scheme.
The 53-year-old was charged with insurance fraud, conspiracy to commit insurance fraud, and filing a false police report after turning himself in to Hampton County authorities on Thursday.
The charges stem from a September 4th shooting that left Murdaugh with a superficial wound.
His bond was set at 20-thousand dollars, but he is being permitted to go to rehab out-of-state.
