(Columbia, SC) -- The South Carolina Department of Transportation is preparing for winter storms that could hit the state this weekend.
They could begin pre-treating highways as early as today.
The department is getting 25-hundred employees ready to distribute 60-thousand tons of salt and over 525-thousand gallons of salt brine.
They also have contracts in place with private contractors to have wreckers ready along interstates to try and prevent backups from lasting too long.
