House Passes Bill To Increase Fines For Passing A Stopped School Bus

(Columbia, SC) - South Carolina residents could soon face bigger fines for passing a stopped school bus. 

The South Carolina House is advancing a bill to increase the fine from the current minimum of 500-dollars to one-thousand for a first offense and 25-hundred dollars for further offenses. 

Under the proposed legislation, 10-million dollars will need to be spent to give all school buses longer stop arms. 

The bill is now heading to the South Carolina Senate for consideration.
