(Sumter County, SC)- SLED is confirming the case is closed against Sumter County Sheriff Anthony Dennis.
A former female sheriff's office lieutenant had accused Dennis of rape in 1997 and a groping in 2004.
In a news conference, Dennis's attorney said the allegations against his client would not be prosecuted.
SLED says a thorough independent investigation was conducted and the findings were sent to the Attorney General's Office, who reportedly said there was insufficient evidence.
