(Columbia, SC) -- The committee of lawmakers leading South Carolina's response to Roe v. Wade being overturned are recommending a near ban on abortions.
The group of eight Republicans and four Democrats vote 9 to 3 on their recommendations Tuesday, which include a ban on abortions with no exceptions in cases of rape, incest, or fetal anomalies.
Under their suggested changes to state law, abortion providers could face two years in prison and a fine for performing an abortion.
The recommendations are now being sent to the House Judiciary Committee for consideration.
