(Horry County, SC)-- A South Carolina senator from Horry County is proposing a shield law to resume death penalty executions in the state.
Senator Greg Hembree says the measure would protect pharmaceutical manufacturers' identities if they sell lethal injection drugs to the state.
Hembree plans to introduce a bill to put the shield law in place when the next regular legislative session begins in January.
Governor Henry McMaster and Department of Corrections Director Bryan Stirling have both expressed support for a shield law in the past.
