(Columbia, SC) -- The South Carolina House is backing a plan to get rid of a law that could prevent state funding for private schools.
This comes after the South Carolina Senate passed a bill that would create publicly funded scholarship accounts for private schools for certain families.
An amendment to South Carolina's constitution from 1875 could block the initiative.
If the Senate agrees with the plan approved by the House, voters would decide if the amendment should be repealed, allowing for state aid to go to religious and private schools.
