(Columbia, SC) - The South Carolina Supreme Court is deciding whether or not to uphold a new state abortion ban.
The measure restricts abortions after about six weeks, making it similar to a law the state's highest court blocked in a January ruling.
During arguments this week, a lawyer for the state said the new law passed by legislators in May includes new findings.
The ban is not currently in effect- it was temporarily halted by a court order after Planned Parenthood filed suit to challenge the law on behalf of abortion providers.
