(Columbia, SC) -- DHEC is performing routine inspections on public pools to ensure they are safe.
The South Carolina agency says over 67-hundred of the inspections have been completed statewide so far this year.
DHEC says about 40-percent of those pools needed to at least close temporarily due to issues found during the inspection.
If a pool is closed, a DHEC representative usually comes out to re-inspect within one business day.
