South Carolina Lawmakers Consider Ban On Gender-Affirming Care For Youth

(Columbia, SC) - Lawmakers in South Carolina are considering a ban on gender-affirming care for transgender youth in the state.

A hearing was held for a newly-filed bill on the first day of the 2024 legislative session this week.

Should the bill become law, anyone under the age of 18 would not be permitted to use hormone therapy, puberty blockers, or any other prescribed gender-affirming care.
