(Lexington, SC)-- A man convicted of murder in Lexington County is waiting to hear if he'll be freed from prison.
The state appeals court on Wednesday overturned Kierin Dennis' murder conviction for a stabbing ten years ago that killed a 17-year-old.
The judge also ordered a new immunity hearing. His lawyer says he plans to argue self-defense.Attorney Todd Rutherford tells WACH News there's clear evidence Dennis was standing his ground.
That hearing is up in the air, though. Dennis is still behind bars waiting to hear if prosecutors will appeal the judge's ruling to the state supreme court. T
he 29-year-old has served five years of his 30-year sentence so far.
