Department Of Energy Reports Radioactive Wasp Nest Found In Aiken

A new report from the U.S. Department of Energy says a radioactive wasp nest was found in Aiken.

Workers at the Savannah River Site discovered the nest on July 3rd and found it was highly radioactive after probing it. Authorities say the nest is a result of "legacy radioactive contamination". The wasps were sprayed and the nest was bagged as radiological waste - with no contamination found to the surrounding area.

Cleanup and environmental remediation have been going on for decades at the site where nuclear material used to be produced.
