GoFundMe Set Up For Girl Fighting Rare Illness

(West Columbia, SC) -- A community is rallying around a Lexington County girl fighting a rare illness.

West Columbia 17-year-old Kaleigh Watts was diagnosed, last week, with a viral illness called Guillain Barre syndrome, which causes the immune system to attack the nerves.

Her parents have taken unpaid leaves from work to care for Kaleigh, and a GoFundMe page was set up to help with their expenses.

More than three thousand dollars in donations has poured in, and her parents tell WACH Fox Kaleigh's recovery could take up to a year.
