South Carolina Representative Jeff Duncan is speaking publicly about President Trump's executive order banning travel from seven Muslim-majority countries and issuing a halt to the refugee resettlement program.
In a statement, the Republican congressman says the bans are temporary and necessary to assist with the screening process. He says he supports the executive order, citing difficulties in verifying identities of refugees, particularly from Syria.
banDuncan also says the order has only affected a small number of people and that the vast majority of those detained have been released.
