Calling it essential for safety and economic development, state lawmakers yesterday passed a measure which will ultimately appropriate $600-million dollars a year, to fix state roads.
This bill means a gradually-increasing gas tax, ultimately reaching the 10-cent per gallon hike over 10 years, and an increase of the vehicle sales tax cap to $500.
The bi-annual vehicle registration goes up by $16-dollars, and it also creates several fees.
The veto-proof House bill may not get through the Senate.
