City To Study Railroad Crossings

A new $2-million dollar study of the rail lines crisscrossing the South Assembly Street area in downtown Columbia, is getting another look.

The resolution could end up costing the city tens of millions of dollars to solve the huge inconvenience and safety issues those trains present, especially during the lunch rush.

Bob Guild, the neighborhood association president for the historic Granby Mill Village area off Huger and Whaley Streets also sees economic development and job issues for those  just trying to get around town.
