Carolina Water Service has been slapped with an almost $80,000-dollar fine, for allowing poorly-treated wastewater into the lower Saluda River.
The South Carolina Dept of Health and Environmental Control says CWS failed to keep bacteria levels within safe limits, before releasing the tainted water into the river, near Saluda Shoals Park.
wvocThat led to no swimming advisories temporarily closing down the recreational area in late June and early July last year.
