State Paid More Than $6,000 For Witness In Slager Case

Newly released court documents say the state paid over 66-hundred dollars to the man who witnessed the shooting involving a North Charleston police officer.

The man recorded the cell phone video of when Michael Slager shot and killed Walter Scott after a traffic stop in 2015. The money included hotel, flight, transportation fees and a daily allowance.

Slager's first trial ended in a mistrial in December. The state retrial is scheduled to begin in August.
