Audit Shows Financial Irregularities at RCRC

A California auditing firm reporting to the Richland County Council about the Richland County Recreation Commission has determined there was indeed dysfunction in that organization - which may mean much stronger restrictions and even employing an auditor, to oversee the financial side of its operation.

County Council has called a special meeting today, with the emphasis on the Matrix Consulting Group's audit, and the potential creation of a memorandum of understanding that could mean releasing more than $8-million dollars in recreational funds.

The money was frozen after reports of organizational havoc, mismanagement, internal personnel battles, misconduct, and alleged misappropriations came to light with firings, of six of the board's seven members.

The six new board members are awaiting approval.
