Severe Weather Brings Wind Damage, Downed Trees

High winds are being blamed for uprooting trees and stripping roofs in parts of Lexington County.

Damage was reported yesterday in Batesburg-Leesville with downed trees and power lines. At the height of the storm, about one thousand people were without power.

One death was reported after a mobile home flipped on Eaves Road near Whitmire Highway in the Upstate. The coroner says the victim was 65-year-old J.C. Matthews Junior.

Authorities believe an unconfirmed tornado caused the mobile home to overturn.
