Senate Debates Gas Tax Increase

The South Carolina Senate is running out of time to vote on a proposal that would increase the gas tax to pay for road repairs.

South Carolina is second in the nation for lowest gas taxes. Republicans are proposing to offset the tax with an income-tax cut.

There are just over ten days left in the legislative session. Governor Henry McMaster has said he won't sign a proposal to increase the gas tax, but suggests a borrowing plan instead.
