Several media organizations are suing the South Carolina House Republican Caucus for violating the Freedom of Information Act.
The organizations claim GOP Caucus members refused to turn over financial records to the media that were given to investigators of a State House corruption probe. Reporters claim to have been denied entry to the caucus meetings, as well.
Three Republican legislators have been indicted on public corruption charges because of the probe.
The media organization's lawsuit aims to establish that the caucus, which is largely funded by the public, is subject to the Freedom of Information Act.
