GOP Runoff In District 5 Primary

Two of a large field of Republican candidates have outlasted their rivals and will face one another in a run-off election May 16th.

Former state representative Ralph Norman and Tommy Pope, state house Speaker Pro Tempore, both from York County, advanced Tuesday.

The Democratic winner, former Goldman Sachs senior tax adviser Archie Parnell will face off with eventual GOP candidate in a June 20th special general election.

They're vying to win the 5th Congressional District seat vacated when former South Carolina congressman Mick Mulvaney joined President Trump's cabinet as his budget director.
