Aiken Gets Much-Needed Makeover This Fall

City leaders in Aiken are putting the Capital Project Sales Tax to good use by getting the ball rolling on a project to improve infrastructure in downtown.

The plan is to update water, sewage and storm water drains along a stretch of Newberry Street to Park Avenue. This first phase of a year-long city makeover will begin in the fall.

They selected this portion because there aren't any businesses in the area, giving construction workers and engineers a better opportunity to assess the condition of the infrastructure.
