An Upstate English teacher will be cruising around in a brand new BMW this year for winning South Carolina Teacher of the Year.
Erin Fox is a teacher and cross country coach at Gaffney High School. Fox was awarded the honor, as well as 25-thousand dollars, at the Columbia Metropolitan Convention Center yesterday.
The Department of Education commended her for using her background in dance and music to bring interesting and creative lessons to the classroom. They also recognized her for working on the health and wellness of students in relation to their academic success.
Fox will take over the role of teacher ambassador and participate in forums and mentoring programs to help improve education across the state.
