Population Increases Strain Lexington County Services

The population growth in Lexington County has community leaders trying to keep up with the demands on public safety programs.

Some 27,000 new residents have arrived since the 2010 census, and the county is mulling over $11.1 million dollars in request money to add to the $159.7-million dollar spending plan that's coming together.

The new budget schedule will begin July 1st. These requests include 6 new ambulances, more comprehensive fire protection by increasing staffing levels and additional staffing for the Sheriff's Department.
