The SC House has voted to override Gov. McMaster’s veto of the bill that raises the gas tax by two cents each year for six years.
The legislation is a compromise between House and Senate bills that also includes a tax credit for the extra gas costs and a tuition cut.
There will be an increase in fees for things like vehicle registration and alternative fuel cars, among others.
The Senate is in session now and is expected to override the veto as well. If they do, the new law will take effect on July 1st, the start of the next fiscal year.
