Aiken County sheriffs have yet to find an inmate who escaped a highway patrol officer's custody on Monday.
Authorities say 44-year-old Duane Grice was being transferred from Charleston to the Aiken County Detention Center when he managed to run away.
He was initially arrested for failing to stop after police attempted to pull him over. He was driving a stolen vehicle and had an outstanding warrant for failure to appear in family court.
Aiken County officials don't believe he's dangerous, but neighbors that have watched the manhunts go on for two days are uneasy. Investigators say he will face serious charges once he is found.
