The Department of Motor Vehicles is encouraging South Carolina residents to get a head start on getting a "real I.D."
The state's current drivers' licenses and IDs won't be accepted for entry into federal buildings, military bases or onto airplanes beginning in October of 2020.
The DMV says you can go ahead and file your paperwork to get a "real I.D." when they begin printing them next year to avoid long wait times in the future.
