Zoning Board Upholds Decision To Let Confederate Flag Fly In Orangeburg

A Confederate flag will continue to fly near one business in Orangeburg.

The flag sits beside Edisto River Creamery, and creamery owners want it taken down because it's hurting business and they claim the land it's on is theirs. Members of the Sons of the Confederate Veterans say they hold a deed to the piece of land the flag flies over, and there's also a memorial to Confederate soldiers on that spot.

Last night, the Orangeburg zoning appeals board ruled the memorial can stay in that location. Creamery owners say they're considering taking the decision to the courts.
