Governor McMaster Ignoring Suspension Requests

Governor Henry McMaster is ignoring calls by state Democrats to suspend Attorney General Alan Wilson amid a corruption investigation.

The Republican declined to publicly address the controversy yesterday after state Democratic Party chairman Trav Robertson asked McMaster to remove Wilson over allegations of official misconduct.

Robertson says the attorney general violated the state's Constitution by using his office to exchange emails with a private political consultant.

Wilson flatly rejected requests to step down in a statement issued Monday.
