Senate Panel Grills Utility Executives

A panel of state senators Tuesday began investigating the failed nuclear reactors project at the V.C.Summer plant in Fairfield County.

The panel grilled top SCANA and Santee Cooper utility company representatives for almost six hours.

The senators want to learn what happened to cause the abandonment of construction of two new nuclear reactors, to be sure the companies involved are held accountable, and to protect ratepayers.

Representatives of the Public Service Commission and the Office of Regulatory Staff launched the first hearing.
