(Miami, FL) -- Forecasters think Tropical Storm Nate could intensify into a Cat 1 hurricane and affect South Carolina's weather next week.
The system is located to the east of Central America, with winds of about 40-miles-per-hour.
Computer models take the storm into the Gulf of Mexico by Saturday. It could become a minimal-hurricane when it's forecast to come ashore on Sunday somewhere between Louisiana and Florida's Big Bend region, with winds of between 75-and-95-miles-per-hour.
"Nate" could be a tropical depression moving west of South Carolina by the start of next week. Forecasters expect heavy rains and some wind from the system although the timing is still not certain.
