House Bill Seeks To Rollback Utility Rate Hikes

(Columbia, SC)  --  There's a new effort to reimburse utility customers close to two-billion dollars.

A bill filed yesterday in the state house would roll back earlier rate increases that were supposed to pay for a now-abandoned nuclear project.  If it passes, it would cost South Carolina Electric and Gas almost 40-million dollars a month.

House Speaker Jay Lucas says the bill makes sure consumers won't have to pay anymore for a costly failed project.
