(Columbia, SC) -- An investigation is underway after a state Department of Corrections officer shot at an escaped inmate in Columbia.
Investigators say the officer fired his weapon while chasing Travis Biggerstaff, who escaped custody yesterday morning near Palmetto Health Richland. He was serving 20 years for kidnapping, armed robbery and larceny.
The inmate was taken into custody near Colonial Drive. Police say he was still wearing his cuffs.
