A mother and daughter are facing charges after a disabled relative died after being found living in horrible conditions.
Gaston's Candie Shearin and daughter Tara Shearin are accused of abusing and neglecting Michael Shearin and causing his death. Michael had muscular dystrophy and was found in a home on State Pond Road last month on a bed covered in maggots and fecal matter.
The 25-year-old died of sepsis caused in part by pneumonia, dehydration, and his blood tested positive for E. coli.
